Captain America: The Winter Soldier at SDCC 2013

I have to admit that I was not a HUGE fan of the first film, but I DO understand that filmmakers have to appeal to the masses.  They also only have a small amount of time to cram in a TON of information that will allow those in the audience to understand just a fraction of the Captain America universe.  But now that they’ve got the background details out of the way, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, should make for quite an entertaining film.

Now, I am sure many of you have seen the first film.  But for those of you who have been living under a rock…

SPOILERS!!!

Now, that you have been warned, let’s continue.  In the first film, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) AKA Captain America goes on a mission and brings along his best friend James “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan).  Something goes terribly wrong and we watch as Bucky falls from the train to his death.  Or, do we???

Some time has passed and Steve is finding it difficult to adapt to his new, modern surroundings.  He finds himself in the middle of some mystery after a failed attempt on his life.  He and the Black Widow search for clues and when the mystery is uncovered,  they find an enemy they would have never expected…  The Winter Soldier.

So, for those of you who are familiar with the comic series, you know that Bucky is the Winter Soldier.  If you didn’t know this, I did say SPOILERS, so not my fault.  Bucky is now a trained assassin.  Oh, yeah, did I mention he has been brainwashed?

Some of the articles I have read say that they are going to try to keep the character as close to how it was written, but who knows how much that will stick.  If the studio execs don’t like it, they’ll ask them to change it.  I mean, that’s what has happened in many of the movies that have recently come out.  They think people won’t get it, but in my opinion, they should keep the characters as close to the original as possible.  I mean, we wouldn’t have continued to read the comic if we didn’t like the characters.  (If we had stopped reading them, they wouldn’t be popular enough to make a movie, right?)

I have high hopes, but low expectations for the film.  I say this because if I go in with low expectation, I can still enjoy it.  That doesn’t mean I won’t tear it apart if they go way out in left field on it.

Oh, and did I mention that George St. Pierre is in this?  If you love MMA like I do, you know he is gonna KICK ASS!!!

Since I cannot write a review at this time, please enjoy some photos I got from Comic Con.
