Well friends, the wait is FINALLY over! the first showing of Black Panther was last night and I made sure to stay away from social media to make sure there were no spoilers. I also like to go into a movie without ANY sort of bias. If I read one article and it says it’s AMAZING or IT SUCKS, it sticks with me. I like to go into the theater with my popcorn and fresh eyes; ready to record (in my mind) everything that appears on the big screen.
nnnnTry as I might, I could not remember everything, but not to worry. I remembered the important bits. NO, I will not be adding spoilers. YES, I will be seeing this movie again.
nnnnThe movie takes us to Wakanda, where T’Challa is crowned king after his father’s unfortunate death. But of course things don’t go smoothly when an unknown man arrives to change everything, including who reigns over Wakanda.
nnnnFirst I want to start off with the score. It was beautifully done, mixing current style music with more traditional African music. Each scene has specific songs that go perfectly with what is happening on the screen and it really makes you enjoy the experience even more. I couldn’t get enough of it and I plan on getting the soundtrack asap!
nnnnNext were the costumes. I cannot even begin to describe the beauty in these designs; especially the female warriors. Every detail was well thought out, even with the jewelry and face/body paint.

The movie was brilliantly shot, with action packed fight scenes and car chases. There is even a special animal that shows up during the last big fight and oh my GOD is it awesome! The special effects were perfectly seamless and very believable. Everything just fit with the movie. The acting, screenplay, music, costumes… It all made sense.
nnnnThe big thing I really took away from the movie was that it truly showed strong, independent women. For example, Those who defend the king are all female warriors. T’Challa’s sister, Shuri is an absolute GENIUS and has invented so many new pieces of technology. And of course, the amazing Queen herself (Angela Bassett), shows amazing strength and care after all of the unfortunate events that occur.
nnnnBlack Panther is a definite MUST see this year. And make sure you stay for the credits. If you are a Marvel fan you know this; however, I constantly see people leave and you miss out.
nnnnGo see the movie and let me know what you think.
nnnnWAKANDA FOREVER!
