nnToday, we received the shocking news that the amazing chef and gifted tv personality Anthony Bourdain died of apparent suicide today at the early age of 61.  Bourdain, openly discussed his struggle with addiction, was filming an episode of “Parts Unknown” in France.  His close friend and chef Eric Ripert found him in his hotel room non-responsive.nnThe great thing about Anthony Bourdain is that he made street food  popular.  You didn’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on an amazing meal.  Small restaurants like Red’s Java House in San Francisco were frequented by him, keeping them on the map and up and running.  So many people have been affected by this tragedy and have gone to social media to send their condolences and share memories of this amazing man.n

“Low plastic stool, cheap but delicious noodles, cold Hanoi beer.” This is how I’ll remember Tony. He taught us about food — but more importantly, about its ability to bring us together. To make us a little less afraid of the unknown. We’ll miss him. -President Barack Obama
