Paramount Lodge Starts of SDCC!

Latest Comments

One of my favorite places to stop during SDCC is the Paramount Lodge, hosted by Paramount+. It is always a wonderful time filled with activations, food, drink, and great people. Here is some of what we got this year.

This year’s Lodge gave everyone more space to chill, eat, and drink, so finding a seat was much easier than in previous years. Then again, I did actually make it for the press preview this year, so that could have made things a little easier. Themed areas ranged from Star Trek to an unexpected amount of sports décor, which I was not expected, but it does make sense as Paramount owns CBS and they have CBS Sports. Photo ops and walkthroughs dominated, plus a football-throwing challenge, which I actually wsn’t horrible at. Whether you were there to take videos and photos, or just wanted a cool place to hang out, the Lodge had something for everybody.

As always, 21+ guests scored two free drinks — perfection — with the Landman-themed cocktail coming in a take-home mug. The drink that came with the mug was so tasty!!!. You could also nab a third drink if you knew the password “I Want to Nerd Out” from the Paramount+ offsite, but I didn’t know about that until later. And that’s fine because those bartenders took care of us with only two drinks. For non-drinkers, the lemon slushie hit the spot. My friend really enjoyed it.

I think my favorite part besides just the overall fun vibe the Lodge gave was that you didn’t need a ticket to get food. Wonderful staff members came out of the back like clockwork to server sliders, fries, and some other treats. Different rooms also had some fun items, so overall, my empty stomach was happy.

Swag you could grab:

  • A mug + leather coaster (Landman)
  • A blood-splattered towel (Dexter: Resurrection)
  • A Starfleet tote (Star Trek)
  • Popcorn from the booth
  • Macaron (Tony and Ziva)

The Lodge moved to earlier hours (9am-7pm most days). Reservations were smooth to book via Fever, but demand still far outweighed supply. Entry was efficient: bag/ID/ticket checks happened before the door, so you could just walk in and start enjoying yourself. I wish they could run the event longer, even if it didn’t have the free swag and maybe pay for food? Or a buy one get one free? But it is SDCC and they only get so much time.

Bottom line? The Lodge is still an SDCC staple: food, drinks, swag, AC (which was a MUST even though it was cooler this year than past years), indoor seating, etc. Even with some missing elements from past years, it remains one of the most dependable, worthwhile offsites. I really hope Paramount+ continues to do this years to come because I will always be there!

Here are a few IG videos from the event. Enjoy!
