Long Beach Comic Con 2014 Contest!

Long Beach Comic Con’s annual contest was held on Saturday, hosted by Nerds Like Us and mc’d by Bernie Bergman.  The panel of judges included Vegas Power Girl, Raychul Moore, Castle Corsetry & Reevz FX.nnThe contestants eagerly waited for Bernie Bergman to call their name and when it happened, they showed how much blood, sweat, and tears, they put into their costumes.  Most of the costumes were simple, yet creative.  Others, were elaborate and quite brilliant in design.nnPrizes, sponsored by HOKU PROPS, were awarded in the following categories:nn

Best in Show– Despicable MenBest Hero– HiccupnBest Villain- Thresh (League of Legends)nBest Youth (kids 12 and under)– Rocket Raccoon and Star LordnFunniest– Robot ChickennBest TV/Movie– Walking DeadnBest Sci-Fi– Captain Seekerman (Steampunk)

Best Group- Gotham HobosnJudge’s Choice– (I can’t remember the name…)

nn nnAside from a few hiccups and poor lighting, the show was very entertaining.  But, this was to be expected seeing as how Long Beach Comic Con is new to holding a cosplay contest.  After the show, I was able to chat with Bernie, a couple of the judges, and the designer of HOKU PROPS.nnA great time was had by all and now it’s time to prepare for Comikaze Expo!nnCheers-nnThe Fatal SirennnPS- If you recognize anyone or see yourself, let me know!
